The internship at Philips Diagnostic X-ray design team consisted of an assignment to help design a new interaction type for a new concept. The hardware was already designed and consisted of multiple systems combined in one new product. The focus was on the initial phase of the design process: doing research, investigating the user’s needs, ideation, and concept development. This allowed me to deepen my knowledge in the phase I am most passionate about. Moreover, I could focus on the expertise areas of U&S and C&A.
To get to know the context, literature research, field research, and talks with experts were done. The ideation phase consisted of activities like co-creation, developing sketching skills, and creating experience prototypes for roleplaying. In the end, a final concept was developed.
The internship allowed me to gain experience in the work field, including cross-cultural and multi-disciplinary work.
