Cross-cultural cooking promotes cultural exploration, but users struggle with unfamiliar recipes, dietary needs, and ingredient access. Current related research remains narrowly focused, not supporting the entire interaction experience holistically.
This study designs and implements an AI-agent-supported application called SoulPlate, designed to help users explore and prepare dishes from different cultural backgrounds while preserving personal dietary preferences and available resources. The system integrates dish recognition, personalized recipe generation, and location-based ingredient purchasing recommendations, creating a holistic interactive experience for cross-cultural cooking.
This study evaluates key AI functions within the application, focusing on the accuracy of dish recognition, the rationality of personalized recipe generation, and the usability of ingredient purchasing recommendations. Experimental results demonstrate that it is able to perform its basic duties, but there should be more research and further development.
The contribution of this study is to demonstrate how AI-supported interactive systems can lower the barriers to cross-cultural cooking by integrating multiple functions and to provide new design ideas for cross-cultural experience design mediated by food.
